Acclaimed alt-folk acts 2/3 Goat and Oh! My Blackbird will be taking the stage tonight at the Wonderland Ballroom in Columbia Heights.
Oh! My Blackbird is touring in support of their debut album, Dare Me, which was released on March 26. The female-led trio from New York City combines incredible vocal harmonies with a spirited folk-pop sound.
With a sound reminiscent of and inspired by newer acts such as Fleet Foxes and Tegan and Sara, and classics like James Taylor and Peter, Paul, and Mary, Oh! My Blackbird has the type of appeal that is sure to reach everyone.
2/3 Goat (pronounced Two-Thirds Goat) also make their way to the District from up north in New York City promoting their album Stream of Conscience, which was recorded entirely on vintage equipment.
With their incredible melodies and poignant lyrics, the band has won the attention of fans and critics alike, winning the MR King Productions singer-songwriter competition in Manhattan in 2009.
Combining folk, blues, rock, and country, 2/3 Goat has tested their sound on the road, having toured the east coast and southeast, performing often in Nashville, TN, where they recorded Stream.
Catch both of these acts tonight at the Wonderland Ballroom. The show starts at 8:30pm.
