Philly-based band June Divided has been on a wild ride. After starting out in small clubs and venues in the city of brotherly love, they’ve graduated to the stages of Warped Tour (RELATED STORIES: Vans Warped Tour Makes A Stop At Merriweather), a result of their hard work paying off.
“We entered the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands,” said lead singer and guitarist Melissa Menago. “And they actually picked us, so we played the Camden date last year. And we got a phone call a couple of months later picking us as one of the finalists from all of the dates, and then hooked us with a run on the tour this year.”
Guitarist Chris Kissel says the band, who are out promoting their recently released album, Backbone, have been excited by the fan’s
reaction their music. “We have a listening station set up with our iPods and iPhones for people who want to listen,” he said. “And it’s cool seeing people’s faces when they put it on and they get that happy face like, ‘Oh this doesn’t actually suck!’”
After they finish their two-week run on Warped, the band will continue to hit the road, touring hard to promote their record, and even have a music video in the works. It’s safe to say that this group will be around for the long haul.
