Jason Mraz – August 24
Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz will be at the Merriweather Post Pavillion tonight, bringing his sunny, infectious tunes with him. The singer, best known for hits like “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)” and “I’m Yours.” He’ll have Christina Perri along for support. Gates are at 5:30pm. Tickets are $40-60.
Terence Blanchard – Aug. 26
Terence Blanchard comes back to his home away from to perform his two shows at Blues Alley of this four-night run. Blanchard first became known widely for his film score contributions to several of Spike Lee’s joints such asWhen the Levees Broke, 25th Hour and Mo Better Blues (not that’s not really Denzel Washington playing). Today, he’s continues to contribute to the music world through music scholarship, composing music for Broadway and even dabbling into the world of opera. The shows start at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $40
Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai has been performing and wowing audiences with his incredible precision and talents for over 30 years. After starting his career in Frank Zappa’s band, he began a solo career that has produced eight albums, which have sold combined over 15 million copies. He’s also won three Grammy Awards. He’ll be at The Howard Theatre. Doors are at 6:00pm. Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 the day of the show.
