Surprise! The 9:30 Club just announced that alt rock greats Jane’s Addiction will be coming to town on December 28. The band followed up the October 2011 release of The Great Escape Artist with the Theatre of Escapists Tour earlier this year. For those who haven’t thought about JA in a long time (maybe since Flea did a stint on bass back in ‘97), according to lead singer Perry Farrell, a follow-up concept album to The Great Escape Artist could be in the works. Farrell is quoted in the February issue of Rolling Stone saying, “what I have not seen before is a group that’s done a record, had somewhat of a theme – escapism – and then done a second record almost as if it was a follow-up movie. I want to do that. We have material left from The Great Escape Artist we didn’t record. I’m very inspired to keep with the theme.” No official statement regarding a new album has been made.
Presale tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Friday, November 9.
