NEEDTOBREATHE are getting back to their roots on their most recent tour, aptly named “The Stomping Ground Tour,” and recently played a sold out U Street Music Hall in DC on October 9. The boys of NEEDTOBREATHE, lead vocalist Bear Rinehart, guitarist Bo Rinehart, and bassist Seth Bolt, sold out the 9:30 Club in 2012, but chose to stick to smaller venues for this tour in order to give their fans an intimate experience reminiscent of their earlier shows as a band.
Even in the smaller U Street Music Hall space NEEDTOBREATHE put on an energetic and passionate show for the sold out crowd. The show opened with “Oh
Carolina” and covered crowd favorites including “Devil’s Been Talkin’,” “The Outsiders,” and an acoustic, unplugged version of “Something Beautiful” to close out the show. Bassist Seth Bolt confessed on his Twitter account (@DrSethBolt) that they don’t write the setlist until right before each show, at least for this tour, making every performance unique. For the completely unplugged closer, lead singer Bear Rinehart nicely asked the audience not to sing along so that everyone could hear, but later asked the crowd to join in for the final chorus.
