Storytelling, powerful vocals and high energy live shows describe the soulful North Carolina-based sextet Delta Rae. Delta Rae returns to the DC area to kick off their tour at a sold-out show at 9:30 Club on February 15. We got the chance to sit down with drummer Mike McKee to talk about the band’s growing popularity and what it was like to meet Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno.
DC Music Live: Are you excited about the upcoming tour, and having the first show at 9:30 Club?
Mike McKee: Yeah, it’s one of those ideal places to start the tour. DC’s been so good to us, and the club is amazing. It has great history, and for good reason it’s one of the top clubs in the country.

Hearts are certain to be set aflutter this Valentine’s weekend by Kodaline and LP at U Street Music Hall. After releasing debut album, In A Perfect World, in the fall, Kodaline set out on their first headlining tour before returning home to Ireland for the holidays.
Now, the band is excited to be back on the road visiting familiar faces and expanding their fan base in the states.
“We had a good break and are all rested up now,” says drummer Vinny May. “We’re excited to pick up with touring again and to be back in the states.”

musx launches tonight at midnight!
Music lovers everywhere: get excited, there’s a new mobile app available especially for you! At midnight, musx – pronounced myo͞oziks – pulled a Beyonce and launched its new social sharing and music exploration app “musx.”
Available for free in the iTunes app store, the service is focused heavily on the social component by creating a simple way to communicate and share music with friends, artists, venues, and blogs without those songs getting lost in someone’s social media feed.
