The newest performing arts venue opening to entertain Washington audiences really is not new at all. The Howard Theatre, re-opening this month, originally was built in 1910 and saw legends such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and James Brown to its stage.
On April 9, the historic theater will celebrate the installation of its Jazz Man sculpture, unveiling of the Duke Ellington Encore sculpture and hold its ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of a community day that’s open to the public.
